It was a to get the module into the new housing.I understand a tight seal is important. This was a struggle. Unlike the fella from spyder replacing the unit in another style of tail light. The gasket kept pinching during install. My solution was to put a thin layer of white grease around the inside of the module housing . Less force, less resistance and it went in
